Hi Tim! I love the serendipitous connections you found in Bansho-ji! Chitose-yama was my weekly lil climb, so many fond memories. I came at it from the Koen side from my apartment but I sometimes looped over the top and around by Bansho-ji. The little park is great for sakura or blue hydrangeas in their seasons, and there’s a swing set with a view. Hope you get to enjoy Chitose-yama fully next time you’re in the city!
I went to the 説明会 for the new Hilton hotel opening in central Kyoto and there was much discussion about the tower parking hours of operation, and (very animatedly) whether the turning plate edge would be flush enough to the surround that cars entering and exiting wouldn't make a kur-klunk sound.
(I realize now this is perhaps the most boring comment in history!)
